It's all about the GMC Sierra 1500 for John Thornton Buick GMC customers. This legendary, all-powerful, truck has blazed a trail since its introduction in 1999. Beloved for its handling, power, towing, and amazing performance, the GMC Sierra 1500 is among the best-selling trucks in America. The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 continues this pickup's history of excellence with eight high-performance trims.
The Different Trim Levels of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500
GMC Sierra 1500 Pro
A big reason for the GMC Sierra 1500's superb reputation is its body-on-frame construction and high-strength steel, full-box frame. Combined with its independent front and semi-elliptic rear suspension, the GMC Sierra 1500 can take on almost any terrain. It's a big reason why this all-American truck is as comfortable driving in the backcountry as it is on the busiest job sites.
The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Pro is the entry-level model. However, don't let that fool you. The 2024 Sierra 1500 Pro provides enough power, performance, technology, safety, and driver-assist features to satisfy any John Thornton Buick GMC customer.
The entry-level Sierra 1500 Pro comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission and the TurboMaxâ„¢ 2.7-liter inline-four engine. This powertrain produces 310 hp, 430 lb-ft of torque, and can support a 2,070 lb payload while towing an impressive 9,500 lbs. Customers also have the option of upgrading to the six-function GMC MultiProâ„¢ tailgate - which dramatically improves loading and unloading.
Standard features include 17-inch silver painted wheels, a 3.5-inch digital instrument cluster, a rear-vision HD camera, a 6-speaker premium audio system, and a 7-inch digital GMC infotainment system with Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay™, and Android Auto™ capabilities. Also standard is a comprehensive list of GMC Pro Safety Features.
Standard GMC Pro Safety Features
- Pedestrian braking
- Forward collision alert
- Lane keep assist
- Lane departure warning
- Following distance warning
- Automatic emergency braking
- IntelliBeamâ„¢ assist
GMC Sierra 1500 SLEÂ
The GMC Sierra 1500 SLE trim includes the same powertrain and standard safety and driver-assist safety features of the Pro model with some noticeable upgrades. Heated front seats and an upgraded SLE convenience package are introduced, as well as a rearview camera system with a trailer-hitch closeup.
A revamped digital instrument panel, a much larger 13.4-inch high-definition (HD) touchscreen with GMC infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch digital multicolor information panel are also new additions.
GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation
The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevatio carries over everything from the SLE and includes the same powertrain as the Pro and SLE trims. However, it makes the six-function GMC MultiProâ„¢ tailgate with step lights standard while upgrading the interior upholstery with premium cloth material. The 1500 Elevation also introduces LED fog lights, larger 20-inch wheels, a high-capacity suspension package, optional sunroof, and gives customers the option of color-matching their Sierra 1500's front fascia with their truck's paint.
GMC Sierra 1500 SLT
The Sierra 1500 SLT ushers in an entirely new powertrain. The 5.3-liter 8-cylinder EcoTec3 engine increases the horsepower to 355, torque to 383, payload to 2,240 lbs, and towing capacity to 11,200 lbs. The SLT Trim is also the first trim to offer an all-leather interior with a leather steering wheel, power front seats, 18-inch wheels, an upgraded trailering package, and cargo bed lighting.
GMC Sierra 1500 AT4
A third powertrain is introduced on the GMC Sierra AT4 with the 3-liter 6-cylinder all-powerful Duramax turbodiesel engine and its 10-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain generates 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque while increasing towing capacity to 13,000 lbs. The AT4 is the off-road capable version of the GMC Sierra 1500 and allows customers to customize their skid plates, and choose upgraded shocks (monotube) while making a locking rear difference and a composite bed standard.
GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X
Upping the ante in terms of off-road capabilities is the GMC Sierra AT4X with its off-road Denali Premium Suspension and adaptive ride control which includes Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV) dampers. While it carries over the same powertrain as the AT4, it adds a front winch and increases the number of skid plate and front bumper configurations.
GMC Sierra 1500 Denali
The fourth and final powertrain is a 6.2-liter 8-cylinder, standard on the GMC Sierra Denali. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, this powertrain generates 420 hp, 460 lb-ft of torque, and has a maximum towing capacity of 13,000 lbs. However, as impressive as this fourth powertrain is, an argument can easily be made that the interior of the Sierra Denali is more impressive.
That interior includes a beautiful layout with a chrome-accented center stack, wood paneling, leather steering wheel, and an all-leather interior.
GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate
Finally, there's the GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate, the most opulent and most luxurious of all the GMC Sierra 1500s. This is the Sierra 1500 trim that has it all. Wood paneling, all-leather seating, all-leather interior, leather steering wheel, SuperCruise™ power-massage front seating, massive 22-inch wheels, and an incredible Bose® premium audio system with 12 speakers.
